President Trump has pardoned the insurrectionists from January 6 2021, who were treated very badly and unfairly when the stormed the Capitol that day.
As explained by the United States Supreme Court in Burdick v. United States, 236 U.S. 79 (1915), in “accepting” a pardon (which is to say, they enter the pardon into the court record in order to alleviate accusations or judgments against them) the January 6 insurrectionists are admitting that they are insurrectionists.
The act of pardoning therefore also carries with it the implicit acknowledgement that those being pardoned are criminals–and confirmation that the act in question itself was a crime. Therefore, President Trump hereby admits that January 6, 2021 was an insurrection against the Congress of the United States.
The very unfair treatment that the insurrectionists received on that day is a dark stain on American history. Perhaps no example better reflects how terribly the insurrectionists were mistreated than the story of Elizabeth from Knoxville. Elizabeth can now rest east knowing that she will never again suffer the humiliation she faced that day.
